1. Taste/hardnesswillvarydependingonthequality/typeofriceandlengthoftimeitiscooked.Fora
softer,uferrice,addalittlemorewater;forrmer,crunchierrice,addalittlelesswater.Youmayneedto
experimenttosuityourtaste.
NOTE: Brown rice takes longer to cook than white rice and requires more water.
2. Placethelidonthericecooker.Plugitintoastandardelectricaloutlet.TheWARMindicatorlightwillcome
on.Pushthe“ON”switchdownandtheCOOKindicatorlightwillcomeon.Asthericeexpandsandcooks,
steamwillcomeoutoftheventinthelid.
DO NOT place the cooker directly under your cabinets.Slightspatteringisnormal.
NOTE:Cookingwillbeginonlywhenthe“ON”switchispusheddownandtheinnerpotisinpositionintheunit.
3. Whencookingisdone,thecookerwillautomaticallyswitchtoWARM(thewarmindicatorlightwillcomeon)
andwillcontinueuntiltheunitisunplugged.Ricecanbekeptwarmforseveralhours.Forbestresults,
letthecookedricesitfor15minutesbeforestirringorremoving.Thisallowsthesteamtonishthecooking
process.DonottrytopreventthecookerfromswitchingtotheWARMcycle.Donotimmediatelydepress
theswitchagainafterithasbeguntheWARMcycle.
4. Fluffricewithaplasticorwoodutensilandmixiningredientssuchasmincedvegetables,ifdesired.
5. Whendone,unplugtheunit.Alwayscleanthecookerthoroughlyassoonaspossibleaftereachuse.
Asricecooks,athincrustmaydeveloponthebottomofthecookingbowl.Thiscrustischewyandmany
peopleenjoyeatingit.Withparboiledandbrownricethecrustmaybebrownedonthebottom.Thecrustcan
easilybepeeledoffanddiscarded,ifpreferred.
Usetheservingscoop(orawoodenspoonorpaddle)tostirandremoverice:Donotusemetalutensilsthat
canscratchordentthecookingbowl.
Pointstoremember:
1. Donotoperatethericecookerwithoutwater.
2. Avoidplacingunitunderanywallcabinetswhenoperating,asmuchsteamisgenerated.Avoidreaching
overtheunitwhenitisoperating.
3. Usecleanwatertollwaterreservoirbeforeeachuse.Donotusewine,brothorotherliquids.Donotadd
anythingtothewater.
4. Cookingtimesareestimatesanddependonthequantity,size,desireddegreeofdonenessand
temperatureoffood.
5. Cookingtimesmaylengthen/shortenaccordingtopersonaltaste.
6. Usehotpadsorovenmittswhenremovingthelidfromthericecooker.Openthelidcarefullytoallow
steamtoescapesafely.
7. Abitofwatermayremaininwaterreservoirafterthericecookeristurnedoff.Thisisnormal.
8. Donotuseanypartsinmicrowaveoronanycooking/heatedsurface.
9. Unplugaftercooking.
10. Allowtheunittocoolbeforecleaning.
11. Whencookingasmallquantityofrice,besuretoaddthecorrectamountofwatertoavoidboilingover.
Donotkeepsmallamountsofricewarminthecookerforextendedperiods.
